Welcome to the first public voting session for the Florida GM Club Ride of the Month. As some of you know, when the ROTM began staff conducted a private voting session and the winner was announced on or near the first of the month. However, the community has grown sufficiently since then and we feel it's high time that members have a say in this matter. So here we go.
![]() On this particular contest we will have six contestants competing for the title of FLGM ROTM. It should be a good contest as the photos all look great. ![]() Keep in mind why the members are competing, the distinction of the FLGM Ride of the Month. This is not something that we should take lightly and neither should they. We're voting on more than just a vehicle's looks. Take your time and examine each photo closely. As you examine the photos look for items of interest along with lighting and composition. It should be more than a snapshot, and as such it should really grab your attention. Take your time, then cast your vote. And try to resist the urge to vote for yourself. ![]() I've posted them by option, username, and image. Vote for the option that you feel best fits the title of "FLGM Ride of the Month". And feel free to leave comments below on why you voted for your choice, but try to keep any criticism constructive. This poll will close on the eve of the 30th. ![]() Happy Voting! ![]()

Yay! I voted! and I wasn't bought off either!
Constructive Criticism... It is REALLY difficult to take GOOD car pictures. I've read up on different schools of thought on the subject and have tried to apply them when I take pics. Having a degree in video production also helps in shot composition... and with all that, I struggle to take what I think is a good picture. So, not that I think I'm all that, but I'll be happy to offer up my two cents only if the contestants want it.

The framing is good, but there's a little too much dead space on the right of the picture. Ideally you want to fill the frame with as much car as you can. I've got a thing about cars on the grass, and I've taken plenty of pictures of cars on grass. Dirt is a little better, but cars should be on pavement (asphalt, pavers, concrete, whatever you can drive on), but that's my opinion. The big critique I have is lighting. Black has to be one of the hardest colors to shoot. Lighting too dark, and you loose the details of your subject, Lighting too bright, and you end up with a harsh image. Difused light is the best... say a semi cloudy day taken any time before 10AM or any time after 2 or 3 PM... and get your light source, the sun, behind you. Direct overhead bright sun is your enemy. Looks like you tried to get some difused light by being under a tree. Not a bad idea, but you ended up with alot of distracting refections across the hood. Nice to show of the shine, but bad to show off the car. Good job, keep shooting!

It's a good pic, HPC! I like the background and the setting. You want something that's visually pleasing, but at the same time not to busy to distract from your subject and you've got that. The edges of the driveway create leading lines in the picture that give your picture depth and a sense of motion, both things that are more difficult to capture in digital pics than in traditional film. Also, you have your front wheels turned slightly to the right, so we can see some of the wheel face. At the angle you are at, I'd suggest turning it more so we can see more of the wheel.
I'd like to see the frame of the pic tighter to the subject eliminating the dead space around the car. The big thing with your pic is the lighting. It's severe with harsh shadow, so I am guessing this was taken within 2 or so hours of high noon. Also, see how the shadow falls to the front of the car hiding your front lower fascia? The sun must have been just behind and just to the right of your subject, so the front fascia is lost in the shadow. Tell us when you get the new camera, and good job losing the Barney mirrors! LOL

LOL I got your love right here! Turn your car around and take the pic from down the driveway so you don't have the sun behind your car and a telephone pole coming out of your trunk. Also, the sky is pretty, but I wanna see your car! Angle your shot down so your not parked at the very bottom of the picture.
