Ok so it's obvious that our attendance has been dying down gradually over time. This is partially my fault for not fully promoting the events. So I figured I would create a thread to see how many people we can actually get to come out to Lakeland. Hopefully we'll have a good turn out like some of our first meets.

However, I don't think we should just stand around in the best buy parking lot for hours while we heard around cars. We should either go get food somewhere as a group, or find something entertaining, yet fairly cheap.

I'm going to try to find some ideas for stuff to do, but I'm not entirely familiar with the Lakeland area.

So I'm going to make a tentative list of attendance, please only sign up if you actually plan on going.

Hello, I discovered this thread on a search. If you're coming to Lakeland, I could point out places to visit..depending on what you're looking for.

There's not a lot up North where you're meeting (the Best Buy parking lot). You'll have 1 restaurant there, plus another couple across 98. There are also a pair in the shopping center next to Best Buy.

There's a mall across 98, but it's not too entertaining. It's an older indoor mall.

If it's not too late to change your meet location: you'll find a lot more restaurant and shopping options in the south mall -- Lakeside Village

If you want to park somewhere and see some nice sites... September 5th is a First Friday event in downtown Lakeland. There's not a large lot to park, but plenty of street parking, and you'll have shops, a couple of parks, and some architectural variety.

That's a pretty nice place to go but it's always packed. So parking will be an issue.

Anybody got any suggestions as far as activities? Right now I'm thinking Beef O' Bradies my be pretty good. We would have to move our cars from the Best Buy parking lot, and it's not too expensive.
