Default WTW Show Recap

For those who missed it, Carlos, Aaron, Lauren, and I all went out to Old Town in Kissimmee. The Wide Track Warriors were hosting their annual Pontiac show. Unfortunately the weather was cloudy all day and it rained like hell towards the end of the show. The club parked together towards the back of the show. We spent most of the day around the cars. We got some food at A&W then went to the awards ceremony.

Carlos got 2nd Place in his category. I got second place in my category. However, Aaron was robbed by the judges. The judges picked a stock Grand Am SC/t over his SUPERCHARGED Grand Am.

Other than the rain and Aaron getting screwed over, it was a good event. I didn't take that many pictures but I will post up any good ones tomorrow. It's time for bed, I woke up too early this morning

Well I think they weren't specting a 21 century car with that much modifications. I did hear the judges asking if they had a modify category before they announced the stock GA as the winner; because is a classic car club they are looking for cars that still have the stock look and they are well take care for. We should write the club and complaint. On the other hand on my category the first place went to the Gand Prix and it wsa modify as well.. so I don't know why Aaron didn't took the first place on his class.

Again, we should write them and complaint.

Well, there's not much we can do. In the end I think it was left up to the judge's decision. However, I'll talk to them about it at the next meeting and see if I can find out some more info.

Sounds like it was fun, minus the rain. Be sure to post some pictures.

Thumbs down Re: WTW Show Recap

I too attended the show and was disappointed to find the host club allowed its members to compete in show, door prises etc etc. Not only that, members judged each others cars and I believe their own too. I'm glad to hear that other than members actually won, since just about everyone else was a WTW clubster. I also have a consistent show winner and was over-looked, to the amazement of several friends and competitors; and lost to basically stock models owned by host members! YES the WTW members all have nice vehicles...but should not be involved in a club hosted show, no other clubs practice this anymore for obvious reasons.
This will be my last association with this show and WTW.
This now answers the question, why WTW only has a show once a year... the word spreads.
My rant is over..that is all

From what I've seen clubs participating in their own shows is common place. I know for a fact that the Wide Track Warriors out sourced their judging to other car clubs. Any WTW judge was only filling in for whoever didn't show. No, they did not judge their own cars. If someone from WTW came upon their car, another judge would fill in for them. I know this because I have worked at that show before.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience however I think you may be looking too far in to it. They're not trying to "rig" their own show. Why wouldn't they just have a private show? Secondly I don't think that they would have 100+ cars (Pontiacs only) every year if their show was rigged.

I don't mean to rant, I'm just stating my opinion.

Yeah, show was kinda a disappointment. I'm used to my car being under appreciated, after all not many people are familiar with grand ams so they have no idea just how much has gone into my car, but not totally overlooked. Even at shows that are biased towards classics, if they have a new car class I usually do well. Only thing I can think is one of the judges didn't like my car and decided to slam me, or they were looking for stock and didn't score it well because it was too modified. Of course if thats the case, they should note that on the flyer. At pontiac nationals they have classes for up to 4 mods, 4-10 mods, and unlimited full blown customs. Thats a much bigger show of course...

I guess I'm just used to the kind of shows they have in the midwest. It's a much different kind of crowd, so I can't expect the same turn out or reactions down here. It seemed like a lot of spectators were impressed with the car though. I was having fun until the rain started. lol Mostly I just liked hangin' with everyone from the club. Given the rain and everything and how much it cost in gas etc, I probably wouldn't go to this show again. I'd be more likely to just attend regular club meets. Maybe try a few other car shows, who knows.
