Default The Grand Am has a bug

So I have driven myself crazy trying to figure out what the problem is. I used my code reader and it said misfire in cylinder 1. Thought that is odd, changed the plugs before I drove it from Ohio, the Coil pack have less then 2,000 miles on them, same with the 8.5 mm Taylor wires. Can't figure it out, take it to Tuffy, they say oh you have a cylinder 1 misfire and we found out it is your Accel coil pack, so I bought a generic one as they wanted $200.00 to do the job that took me 8 mins and a $23.00 part. Used my scanner, cleared the code as it did not come back up.

Now driving the car it still has the same hesitation (not as rough as running on 5 cylinders) but when I give it the gas I get a lot of back pressure in the exhaust which should not be the case with the SLP system, down pipe, headers etc. That being said it feels like an almost fouled out plug. You can hear it when I give it the gas going pop where something is not right. Can't for the life of me figure it out. When I gun it at lets say 65MPG it takes like 15 seconds to get up to 75 (no joking saying it is a grand am it will normally pull to 75 quick).

It downshifts fine, not in the trans I don't think, the RPM's shoot up but the power is not going to the wheels. Check my reader for any fuel errors thinking maybe a clogged injector, not the case. Then I thought as odd as it sounds for only one to misfire it could be bad gas so I ran it dry and used another station, still no luck. Any ideas on what could be the problem here? I need to ask Tuffy for the $85.00 diagnosis money back as it did not fix the problem, only improve my situation.

But I am not getting any bad connections, the read on the spark is fine and the problem feels like I am towing 10,000 lbs. You gun it, the engine revs like its judgment day and the car creeps up in speed all the while hearing a little miss and tons of backpressure.

Taylor wires suck! I used them on my Fleetwood when I did a LT to LS coil conversion and they did not work worth a crap. I kept getting misfires.

Take it to a good shop and have them put the car on a scope to really see how it is firing. Also try starting the car in the dark with no light under the hood to see if you can see those crappy Taylor wires arcing.

I don't know how far you are away from the Apopka area but I can recommend a really good shop that is honest and will not rip you off.

Well, I tried the coil packs. it did not fix the problem, went and bought basic wires, and the car is perfect now. so my 3rd set of Taylors crapped out on me. I took it upon myself to write back and forth to Taylor only to have them say the following.

If you still have the wire sets and a proof of purchase from Summit I can issue and RGA for you to return the wire set(s) to us and we will find out if there is a manufacturing problem. If there is a problem then we will repair or replace the wires no charge. I checked the history for this part in all three of the colors available and discovered that we have had none returned for any reason in the last 18 months so we are very curious about the problems that you are having with these wire sets.

So in other words they think you're lying? Pssh, they should go on the Grand Am Owners Club and Grand Am GT. They'll find plenty of people who have had their wires crap out on them. No on bothers to complain about it because they don't want another set of crappy wires. They just order a different brand. Like Magnecore.

You can feel free to write them a quick email at info@taylorvertex.com which is how I get Mike. Just tell them that you ran their wires on your Grand AM and have had them go out on you. I want them to know that a problem does exist and they need to fix it.
