Here are the parts, minus the caliper, since I am waiting for it to come in, it will be in tomorrow, then I've got to put the car back together and bleed the brake system. Since photobucket loads in reverse order, the last three pics are the original damage, then the damage that parked the car, then the new parts, then how the car is sitting until I get the caliper tomorrow.

Holy wow! How old were those brakes! That looks pretty scary!

The brakes have been on the car since I got it. It had new pads when I got it in 06, but I think someone machined the rotor and machined the backside a little to much, the inner pad slid under the caliper and the piston hit the rotor. That was the original damage. The computer shut off the rear brakes because it thought they were leaking. I started driving it again with two brakes (I know, I'm completely CRAZY, driving a cammed LS1 using only two brakes) and the computer turned them back on (God only knows why) and the piston came out and demolished the rotor pretty nicely before getting stuck and locking up that wheel. I lost my posi for a little bit before I managed to demolish the side of the piston enough to get the car home. Then, I drove it to church once without using the brakes at all. Then I parked it, not enjoying driving with three brakes and a fluid leak using the e-brake and neutral. (Again, bats*** crazy) So, now, I'm fixing it.

You are crazy!
But at least its getting fixed now! I've never seen brakes do that before. The worst I ever had was a caliper blow up and leak fluid everywhere. ![]() |

I've seen a rotor fuse to the caliper, that was interesting but not fun.
On the flip side, you should certainly see an improvement in your braking performance. Just remember that it doesn't mean you get to go faster. ![]()
